After spending a combined 128 days traversing the world’s ninth largest and largely unexplored island – Victoria Island, in the Canadian Arctic – our young adventures are back to tell their story. GORE-TEX® Brand, Paddy Pallin, Australian Geographic and Icebreaker are proud to present the “1000 Hour Day Expedition – Live!”
Join us in welcoming back our intrepid adventurers Chris Bray and Clark Carter as they share their experiences of becoming the first people to walk across this remarkable ‘lost-world’ in the Canadian High Arctic.
In 2005 they managed to travel 300km in 58 days before the incoming winter forced them out. In 2008 with the benefit of hindsight, they went back to finish what they started. This is a unique opportunity to learn how this inspiring pair of young Australians covered the remaining 700km of Arctic tundra in 70 days.
Our adventurers forged their path through snow and ice, mud plains, fields of boulders, jagged rocks and even rapids, as polar bears and arctic wolves looked on at the strange sight of 2 humans hauling 250kgs of gear and supplies behind them.
What do you do when the bullet-proof wheel covers of your self designed amphibious cart start disintegrating on Day 6 of a 100 day trip? Can you really dance with a wolf? And what happens when you finally cross 1000 kilometres of frozen wilderness, only to realise that your pick up isn’t showing up?
We hope you can join us as Chris and Clark answer all of these questions and more on what promises to be an evening of high adventure and entertainment. |
