QUALITY TESTING

COMFORT TEST

To put comfort to the test, we compare laboratory results with subjective perceptions.

One of the most important features of modern clothing is comfort for the wearer. This means not only the garment’s coziness, but also its physiological function. Basically, whatever we do, we produce heat; when engaging in sports, we can produce up to 1,000 watts. Comfort is a state in which we are neither too warm nor too cold; in other words, when there is a balance between heat produced and heat lost. We begin to feel uncomfortable when factors such as wind, cold, snow, or rain disturb this balance. The same thing happens when we sweat and perspiration cools off on our skin. In our Comfort Test, laboratory results are compared with people’s subjective perceptions to verify the outstanding comfort of
GORE-TEX® products.
