INSULATING LAYER
This layer is worn over the base layer. Its role is to trap in warm air to prevent heat loss. This layer should fit snugly; otherwise you will lose warm air each time you move, otherwise known as ventilation heat loss.
Good insulating options: synthetic and woolen fabrics. Because they soak up little moisture, they retain much of their insulating ability when exposed to water and sweat. |
